Information
"The effect of thermal oxidation temperature on removal torque value was studied. Five New Zealand rabbits were used in this study. The implants, which were 8mm total length, 4mm screw length, 3.75mm external diameter, 3.09 internal diameter, were machined with CAD-CAM machine as machined top shape for connection with removal torque measurement machine.
Group 1 was 600℃ thermal oxidation of Ti implant and Group 2 was 800℃ thermal oxidation of Ti implant. Total 20 implants were implanted in rabbit tibia using sequential drilling procedures. After 4 weeks healing, the removal torque measurements of the proximal implants were done.
The results were as followed :
1. Surface roughness of 600℃ oxidation group (Ra=0.87㎛) was rougher than 800℃ oxidation group (Ra=0.76㎛) in the optical interferometer measurements. (P<0.05)
2. The removal torque value of 800℃ oxidation group (15.35Ncm) was higher than 600℃ oxidation group (11.82Ncm) after 4 weeks healing in rabbit tibia. (P<0.05)"
