When a residual root is found in a predetermined region for implant, an invasive surgery is generally performed to remove it. Consequently, the treatment time becomes longer and complex, and sometimes requires additional bone augmentation. In this report, we present successful cases of implant placement in contact with the roots without extraction. Three patients were treated with implants in contact with or approximation to residual roots. Implants were clinically stable and the roots did not show any pathological conditions clinically or radiologically and were covered with gum. The treatment follow-up for each case report was 12 months, 47 months, and 115 months. Implants were stable during the observation period and did not show any pathological conditions clinically or radiologically. Thus, the conclusion that the invasive procedure is not necessary to remove healthy residual roots and implants placed in contact with residual roots or bone are not associated with maintenance of stability of implants was derived.
