Abstract
This clinical study was performed on the basis of the concept of occlusion according to the classification of osseointegrated prosthesis and discussed about the connection between the osseointegrated implant and the natural teeth, specially in the Kennedy class Ⅰ and Kennedy class Ⅱ of the partially edentulous patients. The connection of the natural teeth used T-block or Flecher attachment of the screw-retained type and also the cement-retained type in case of rigid connection, and used key and keyway attachment in case of non-rigid connection as well as freestanding bridge without the connection of natural teeth in the bilateral and unilateral free-end case. Freestanding bridge must be preferred at first if possible regardless of the controversy regarding the connection of the natural teeth, that is, the use of non-rigid connector or rigid connector. The implant-supported prosthesis must be fabricated as carefully and accurately as possible because occlusion is one of the most important factor to the overall success rate and must be evaluated with clinical and radiographic examination through the regular follow-up check in order to achieve long-term success.
