Information
There have been, for several years, many controversies regarding the connection type between the implant abutment and its superstructure prosthesis. Screw-type prosthesis allows being easily retrieved whenever needed, but its fabrication procedure has high technique -sensitivity. Cement-type prosthesis does not need difficult clinical and laboratory procedures. It also provides excellent esthetics. However, cement-type prosthesis does not allow easy retrieving of itself. For more passive fit and easier fabrication of implant prosthesis, some advocates alternate methods, which yet have some mishaps. Screw-retained telescopic prosthesis(SRIP) provides easy retrievability of the prosthesis itself as well as simple laboratory and clinical works. SRTP does not allow accidental dislodgement form the implant abutment because the screw type retains the whole prosthesis after cement failure. Some clinical cases by using SRTP-type implant restorations are presented with follow-ups of up to 18 months.
