I investigated the complications and early failures of sinus bone graft and implant placement performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon from January 2000 to November 2005 retrospectively. And I got following results by evaluating the association of complications and failures and risk factors. Seventeen early implant failures developed in 12 patients. Among them 6 implants of 6 patients had osseointegrated failure before prosthodontic treatment and 11 implants of 6 patients failed within 1 year after prosthodontic loading. The most common possible cause of early implant failures is overload. Other possible causes are poor primary stability, sinus membrane perforation, periimplantitis, and others.
