Information
Bone defects around dental implants are frequently observed when implants are placed in areas with inadequate bone, ie, dehiscence defects, fenestration defects, residual intraosseous defects, defects associated with extraction sockets, or insituations when the implants are going to fail. ABone grafts can be taken from inside the mouth, in the area of the chin or third molar region or in the upper jaw behind the last molar. Various types of bone graft materials may also be used in cases where there is insufficient bone for implantation or when there is a possibility of failure after implantation due to the resorption of alveolar bone. Aln more extensive situations, a greater quantity of bone can be attained from the tibia or the hip. These surgeries are performed in the ambulatory surgical site under Ⅳ sedation or general anesthesia. APlatelet rich-plasma (PRP) is new technique involves the use of the patient’s own blood. This stimulates healing of the bone graft marrow and has proven to be a valuable adjunct to bone grafting in association with dental implants.
