Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the tapered implant body design on the implant prima ry stability by insertion torque measurement and resonance frequency analysis in the alveolar bone of human cadaver. Material and Methods: Twenty implants of 2 different types, straight and tapered, from OneplantⓇ implant system(Warantec Co., Seoul, Korea) were used for the test. Two types of implants were placed in maxillae and mandible of human cadaver according to the two different types of surgical protocols, so the whole specimens were divided into 4 experimental groups. The total number of implant placement is sixty, forty for mandible and twenty for maxilla. After each placement of implant, the insertion torque value was evaluated ,and the implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured from the sectional direction by three times. Statistical analysis was performed. Results: Tapered type implants(TH) did not show statistically significant differences in insertion torque values and ISQ values than straight type implants(SH) in OneplantⓇ implant system. There was a significant correlation between insertion torque values and ISQ values. Conclusion: Within the limits of this study, there was no influence of the tapered implant body design on the implant pri mary stability.
