Abstract
The influence of surface roughness and HA coating on the bone response of titanium implants was investigated. Three types of titanium implants, i.e.grit blasted, grit blasted with HA IBAD coating in some degrees of solubility, and grit blasted with Ca-P sputter coating with insoluble, were prepared. These implants were inserted into the left and right tibial diaphyses of the rabbits. After implantation periods of 6 weeks, The bone-implant interface was evaluated with removal torque force measurements. Removal torque tests showed that implants grit blasted with Ca-P sputter coating with insoluble demonstrated the highest mean removal torque values, and the implants grit blasted with HA IBAD coating in some degrees of solubility and implants grit basted were in the next consecutive order. There was no statistically significant difference between the grit blasted with HA sputter coating with insoluble and girt blasted with HA IBAD coating in some degrees of solubility and statistic ally significant difference between the coated implants and non-coated implants.(p<0.05)
