Information
Increasing use of implants for lost teeth may lead to higher incidence of biomechanical complications. Although various methods have been developed to treat these complications, implant failure often occurs, requiring the removal of implants. Several methods of implant removal have both advantages and disadvantages. To choose the most appropriate method, patient’s status and dentist’s technique should be considered. After removing implants, new implantation is required. Therefore, conventional method using trephine bur and new non traumatic method using fixture removal kit should be used properly. In conclusion, adequate choices of implant removal methods and subsequent plan for new implantation should be performed systematically.
